Longshadow

Longshadow, by Gürkan Bacak

A puzzle where the level you can see is not the level you can walk on. A fixed light throws the diorama onto the floor beneath it, and that shadow is solid ground. Turning the diorama redraws the shadow, so two platforms that never touch can still be joined by the shape they cast.

The design rests on one problem, and that is where the build starts: a turn has to be readable before it is made. If a player cannot picture the shadow the next rotation will draw, they are turning the diorama at random, and a puzzle solved at random teaches nothing for the one after it. How much of a shape has to stay in view for a turn to read as a plan is the first thing to find out, before there is a level count or an art pass to argue about.
